Not too long ago, we did a review on the rugs seen in the Sherlock Holmes computer game "The Mystery of the Persian Carpet." Just recently, we noticed on the site Pixel Dolly, there's a new download available for the Sims Game "This Home of Ours" which allows the ability to add one of 7 old carpets in 6 different available sizes.
We're not exactly sure where the graphic artists got these awesome designs from, if they're based off actual rugs, or just computer generated. However, for those people who are interested in some good search terms for similar types of designs seen in these carpets, they're outlined below!
Rug 01 seen above: A Balouch or Turkomen type of design
Rug 02 above: An old Isphahan or Tabriz. Some Newer Nains may have similar designs as well.
Rug 03 above: A Balouch Design... The patterns repeated through the field are known as "guls".
Rug 04 above: Perhaps an Antique Isfahan, some Tabriz and Kerman rugs have similar Medallions
Rug 05 above: Try using search terms such as Mahal or Sultanabad, maybe Northwest Persian
Rug 06 above: Can't quite pinpoint this rug, however there are some newer rugs from Pakistan with similar designs. This particular rug has an open field with medallion.
Rug 07 above: Similar to old Heriz or Serapi rugs, however this particular piece shown has a very unusual black field...
